Centennial Celebration

This year marks the centennial anniversary of the building of Mount St. Michael. One hundred years ago the Jesuit Fathers began building this magnificent structure as a scholasticate to train seminarians for the priesthood. Now it is used to train and teach future generations in the traditional Catholic Faith.

Mount St. Michael Centennial logoTo commemorate this momentous event, we founded the Mount St. Michael Heritage Museum, in which we have displayed unique and unusual artifacts that the Jesuits left behind. To celebrate the Centennial year we have had several special events so far, including a public Open House, and a magnificent Requiem High Mass for the repose of the souls of the Jesuit Fathers who built and contributed to Mount St. Michael. The Mass was sung by our very own CMRI priests. On February 11, the 100th day of school and the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the children released 100 balloons in honor of the Mount’s 100 years. The museum was blessed and dedicated on March 15, 2015, which was the exact day on which the cornerstone was blessed 100 years ago.

As the year continues we look forward to many other exciting events that have been planned. These will include burying a time capsule, a festival with the Singing Nuns on the 4th of July, and a murder mystery dinner theater on October 31. The year will conclude with the Singing Nuns’ Christmas Concert here at Historic Mount St. Michael for the first time.

We here at the Mount are very blessed to have such an extraordinary edifice that we call parish, school and home. Let us be mindful and thankful of the great sacrifices that were made 100 years ago for our holy Faith. We want to make sure that “Tradition Endures” for the next 100 years.

Thank you to everyone for their participation in these memorable happenings. May God bless you.
