PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst take to Thyself a body and soul like ours, to teach us the glory of self-sacrifice and service, mercifully deign to instill in other hearts the desire to dedicate their lives to Thee. Give us PRIESTS to stand before Thine Altar and to preach the words of Thy Gospel; BROTHERS to assist the priests and to reproduce in themselves Thy humility; SISTERS to teach the young and nurse the sick and to minister Thy charity to all; LAY PEOPLE to imitate Thee in their homes and families. Amen. (7 years indulgence each time recited; a plenary indulgence if recited daily for an entire month.)

Prayer to St. Joseph (prayed daily after Mass)

O Glorious Saint Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, to thee do we raise our hearts and hands, to implore thy powerful intercession in obtaining from the benign Heart of Jesus all the helps and graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death and the favor we now implore, a new elevator for Mt. St. Michael.
(The following is said seven times in honor of the Seven Joys and Sorrows of St. Joseph:)
O Glorious St. Joseph! Through the love thou bearest to Jesus Christ and for the glory of His name, hear our prayers and obtain our petitions. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist us!

Prayer to the Queen of Heaven (Prayed daily after the Rosary)

August Queen of Heaven, Sovereign Mistress of the Angels, who didst receive from the beginning the mission and the power to crush the serpent's head, we beseech thee to send thy holy angels, that under thy command and by the power they may purse the evil spirits, encounter them on every side, resist their bold attacks, and drive them hence into the abyss of woe. Most holy Mother, send thy angels to defend us and to drive the cruel enemy from us. All ye holy angels and archangels, help and defend us. Amen. Oh good and tender Mother! Thou shalt ever be our Love and our Hope. Holy Angels and Archangels, keep and defend us. Amen

***PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS***

* - Indicates new since last bulleti

*ANNUAL SCHOOL AUCTION: Thank you all for helping make it a reality and a success! May God bless and reward you abundantly.

*LAY CHOIR PRACTICE: This Wednesday, April 23, 7-8:30 p.m., to prepare for next Sunday's 10:30 a.m. High Mass. As always, all who can sing reasonably well are welcome to be part of the choir.

*CONFIRMATION CLASSES - The reception of this Sacrament is obligatory for all baptized Catholics. The customary age in the United States to receive it is 10 years old. Bishop Mark Pivarunas, CMRI, will administer Confirmation following his 6 p.m. Mass on Thursday, May 29. There will be three mandatory classes on the Saturdays beforehand for those preparing for this Sacrament. The first one will be a general review of the Catholic Faith; the second will be a thorough study of the Sacrament of Confrimation; the third will emphasize the spiritual preparation to be made beforehand. The students who attend St. Michael's Academy are exempt from two of the three classes, and those who faithfully attend the Sunday catechism class are exempt from one of the three classes. Please fill out the form ASAP (available in the vestibule) and hand in to Fr. Casimir; remember to attach a copy of your Baptismal certificate (unless you were baptized here at the Mount).

*TURN OFF THE CELL PHONES, PLEASE! Before you enter God's House, make sure that your cell phone's ringer is off. Thank you.

*MOTHERS' DAY MASS REMEMBRANCE: Mothers' Day is on May 11. Don't forget to turn in your mother's name so that she can be specially remembered at Holy Mass that day. You may use the envelopes provided in the vestibule, or just write on a slip of paper and turn in to the parish office. Complementary Mothers' Day Mass Remembrance cards are available in the vestibule.

*MIQ CANDLELIGHT DINNER THEATRE: MIQ Parish in Rathdrum, Idaho, is having a candlelight dinner theatre presentation on May 3 at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be followed by the MIQ Drama Club presentation, "Is There Honey Still," a touching story about WWII nurses. DRESS CODE

If this is the first time you are attending the traditional Latin Mass here at Mount St. Michael, you will notice that our parishioners do not dress casually for church services. Since the changes that came about after Vatican Council II, few parishes have any kind of dress code. We still believe that modesty and appropriate attire are necessary, especially in church out of reverence for the Blessed Sacrament. Please observe these minimum standards of dress for attendance at church services at Mount St. Michael:

  • Woman and girls must cover their heads. (Chapel veils or mantillas are available for loan in the vestibule.)
  • Women and girls must wear dresses or skirts that cover the knee completely when sitting or standing; slacks, shorts, sleeveless, tight or low-cut clothing or dresses with long cuts or slits are to be avoided.
  • Men and boys should wear suit coats and ties.
  • Jeans and other casual attire are inappropriate for attendance at church services.

Church Decorum: Our decorum at Holy Mass can give greater honor and glory to Almighty God, give good example and edification to others, and increase our faith and devotion to the Real Presence of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The following are practical examples of the rule of decorum we should observe in church:

  • Always dress in a manner appropriate to divine worship.
  • Be on time for the start of Mass.
  • Upon entering the church, bless yourself with holy water (using the right hand). Genuflect on the right knee in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Avoid using the center aisle, especially if Mass has begun. Use the side aisle and fill toward the center.
  • The last three pews in the church should be reserved for families with small children and those who may have to leave the church during Mass. Baby toys, food items, gum, and strollers are always inappropriate in church.
  • During Communion, please keep the line moving in a pious and orderly manner. Promote piety and prayerful contemplation by folding the hands in a pious manner.
  • At the end of Mass, allow the celebrant to leave the altar before exiting the church. Make sure to genuflect to the Blessed Sacrament when leaving.
